Crank Shaft - Unitized Frame

The BROWN BOGGS Series ST2, steel slab Straight Side double crank power presses are adaptable to many classes of work.

Dual Processor Press Control

The BROWN BOGGS press control, with dual microprocessor, meets or exceeds ANSI B11.1, OSHA 1910.217 and CSA Z142 press control standards for control reliability. Standard features of dual processor press control include 4 operating modes, Off, Inch, Single Stroke, and Continuous, as well as anti-repeat, anti-tie down, brake monitor and chain brake detection. This system provides complete diagnostics, both internal and external, of all press system with faults automatically displayed to reduce downtime.

Frame / Crankshaft

The rigid, heavy, fabricated one piece all steel frame is stress relieved to minimize deflection under full load conditions and the ground crankshaft is of forged steel, heat treated for toughness and shock resistance.


The heavy-duty one piece cast steel slide is designed with long slideways and guideways to maintain proper alignment over the full stroke thus providing maximum die life. The ball screw connection and replaceable bronze ball socket in the slide are both accurately machined and hand fitted to ensure long maintenance-free service. The slideways, gibs and bronze liners are all hand scraped to be square with the bottom face of the slide and parallel to each other within 0.001" per foot. The flanged slide is equipped with a pneumatic counterbalance system which affords smoother, safer press performance and better clutch action at higher speeds and assists in offsetting the weight of the slide and dies.


The main and pitman bearings and the replaceable bronze ball socket are all made of a high-grade alloy bronze.  These bearings are hand scraped to ensure the highest possible degree of accuracy and maximum wear life.  Anti-friction bearings are used in all flywheel and backshaft assemblies.

Combination Clutch / Brake

The pneumatic combination clutch/brake control circuit utilizes a air actuated clutch and spring actuated brake and dual fail safe valve. The combination clutch/brake is mounted on the crankshaft in order to provide superior performance and achieve higher rates of single stroking.

Automatic Lubrication

The standard automatic centralized circulating oil lubrication system continuously lubricates the main and pitman bearings as well as the slideways, gibs, and pitman ball socket. The pressure-monitored system automatically pumps and properly distributes the flow of oil to each metered point. The system continuously monitors itself against system failure, pump failure, and empty reservoir. The control panel indicates a lubrication failure when pressure is lost.
